We spoke with 42 school district and charter leaders across the state — from every region and every district type — to understand the state of California Standards implementation.
Demographically, the interviewed districts were representative of the state, skewing somewhat toward larger populated districts.

Methodology: School District Leader Interviews
These insights, and the supporting data were gathered from telephone survey interviews with district curriculum and instruction leaders from a representative sample of school districts across California. We interviewed 42 district leaders in total — 37 traditional districts and five charter management organizations — representing all 11 California education service regions, and each geographic locale types (urban, suburban, town and rural). We surveyed these district leaders to understand their districts’ current capacity and constraints to support teachers and school leaders through the implementation of the California State Standards.
